Are you closer to answering your research question(s)? Why or why not?
I believe learning how action research works while taking these two courses have brought me closer to answering the research question. The goal is that the preliminary results that have been collected will allow me to identify some instructional strategies that can improve comprehensive reading skills of ELL and struggling readers. As an educator, I want to increase the quality of the student’s performance across all curriculum.
To what degree are your data collection instruments yielding the information you’d hoped for in answering your research questions? Why or why not?
The data collection tools that I used in gathering information are useful since it collects the applicant opinions on the topic of study as well as reflecting on the implementation of the strategies and prevention of struggling readers and their comprehension skills. The reason for this is that the data collection tools help in collecting personal information as well as collecting qualitative and quantitative data that is essential in responding to investigative questions.
How have your leadership skills been put to work specifically, as you have participated as a researcher?
The leadership skills have been put to the task as I collaborate with the three children trying to develop strategies and implement an intervention to decrease the reading gap between them and the other students in their class. My leadership skills have been formed such that as a follower of a leader; my goal is to work as a participative leader as well as a democratic leader. For this research, I can attempt to lead a research group as well as explaining the difficulties that need to be addressed by using all the research based strategies and intervention to improve the struggling reader’s comprehension skills.
